CPR

The Adult First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns cuts scrapes sudden illnesses head neck back injuries heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults. Successful students will receive a certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

Safety Care

Safety Care is a training program for Direct Support Professionals who may provide services to individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors. Safety Care also emphasizes the need to examine specific behaviors and get to the root
cause of the behavior. The focus of Safety Care is on prevention, safety, and humane, supportive, evidence-based interventions. Safety Care Trainees will learn how to:

DSP Live

Professional certification earned through the Maine College of Direct Support (CDS). To provide supports as a DSP, this is the nationally accredited certificate required. Students are signed up electronically, and then complete 45 hours of coursework through a blend of online learning and live, in-person workshops and discussions offered at Ubuntu Care.

Training

CRMA

This course teaches the skills needed for safe medication administration and covers State of Maine regulations, common medications and side effects, and basic anatomy and physiology. Participants may choose to add supervised Medication Administration provided by an RN and needed to obtain the certification.

CRMA Recert

This 8-hour class is designed for recertification of CRMA students who have completed the 24 or 40 hour CRMA course. Participants taking this course should already possess the ability to transcribe orders onto an MAR with 100% accuracy. The class will include demonstration of skills through a mock medication pass and a written exam. All students MUST bring a copy of their CRMA Bridge certificate, or a copy of their 24 or 40 hour CRMA certificate issued by the state and a current driver’s license or identification card. The CRMA Recertification Review class is recommended for all students before taking it.
